I've neglected this blog. Just some updates:
Kiefer is in P1 this year and he seems to be doing quite alright in school. As predicted, he is really a very messy and scatterbrained boy. He has already lost countless erasers, pencils and well, his coin pouch many times. Though his coin pouch is usually somewhere in his bag or around the house. There have also Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-23167403984260780202014-11-06T10:58:00.000+08:002014-11-06T10:58:12.266+08:00Primary 1 Orientation (Kiefer)Our number two is entering the formal education system next year! Time flies.
We attended the Orientation programme at the school last week and well, being Kiefer, he fit right at home!
That's him! Running off to class with his classmates!
Both of them will be in the morning session next year. I think logistically, it will be better for us. And I can't seem to catch up on my sleep/ rest at all. It feels as though we keep slamming against waves, over and over again.
It started late Nov 2013, when we cancelled our long awaited trip to the US. It was a really last minute cancellation (i.e the Saturday before the Tuesday that we were due to fly) cos MiL fell ill. It was a scramble to Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-36846602455650372482014-03-23T11:02:00.000+08:002014-11-04T12:03:56.960+08:00Taipei 2014We took a short vacation to Taipei this March holidays. It was fun because it was a new country for us and surprisingly, the boys really loved it. The most curious thing was that Kieran was so adventurous in his eating habits this trip as he tried almost all the street food that we bought!

At dinner, and as usual, he's running about and taking a long time to finish up.

Me: I spy with my little eye, something pink, Kiefer!
Kiefer (with the usual cheeky look and voice): hee.. smacking!
After dinner:
Kieran: Mummy, I need the other one! (referring to what he needed to pack in his school bag.)

We've been so busy lately that this is one trip that I didn't compile the photos of this trip into a photobook.
We didn't quite know where to go for our holiday and since our very good friend is residing in Bangkok, we thought we would go there for a holiday and visit her (and hubby and her cute little boy) as well. Initially, we thought that 5 nights in Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-40537698561102730252013-07-28T20:17:00.001+08:002013-07-28T20:17:10.409+08:00In whom I can trust
As part of the church's (and kindy's) outreach, the K1s had a short performance during the morning service today. They sing In whom I can trust. I love the beginning where the kiddos closed their eyes, and I really felt God's presence then. I loved how Kiefer took this performance really seriously and performed all the hand signs to perfection.
Here's the song, enjoy.

Front tooth on his left came out. It was pushing on the other front tooth such that it is also dangerously shaky now. It'll probably come off at the end of the week and he'll be a true bogeh by weekend i think!

Yay!! That was 10 and a half weeks (yes, school started half a week earlier) and boy are we glad the holidays are here!
Other than complaining (a lot) about having less TV and play time, I must say that Kieran has done pretty well in this term. He even made it through 3 weeks of assessment tasks in the final 3 weeks of school.

25 Jan 2013
Kieran saw us browsing airfares online and
asked if we are going anywhere. So we said "mummy and daddy are going.
if you guys are good, maybe." So he went to Kiefer (who was showering
and told him about it (Mummy and daddy going on holiday). After he came
out, we heard Kiefer shouting from the bathroom " Kieran! Kieran! I need
to talk to you! Are they going without us?!!" :P Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-22709494474726253432013-01-22T18:20:00.002+08:002013-01-22T18:20:16.315+08:00Kieran's first weeks in primary schoolJust wanted to record some of the more memorable incidents about Kieran's first 3 weeks in school. Hopefully, I'll scrapbook some of these so that when he looks back when he grows older, he'll too, laugh at these little things that he does.
{First day of school}
Kiefer came home before Kieran left for school on the school bus:

This little fella does say a lot of funny logic. And he usually does it with such a straight, matter-of-fact face that you'll want to break out laughing! He also gets the joke after a while and laughs along. That's my funny boy!
The term "Kieferism" started with this conversation (29 Nov) I had with him. But of cos, he Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-71376526305807578102013-01-20T15:52:00.000+08:002013-01-20T15:52:38.343+08:00Bali (9 - 13 December 2012)This is a back-post on our Bali trip in December.
We didn't quite know where to go as we already did a pretty "big" trip to Melbourne in September. So at the last minute, we decided on Bali. We booked the trip only about 2 weeks before we were due to go. And we knew that Kieran's kindy classmate was going to be there as well, we planned to meet up there.
This trip is a little different Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-12473935895004636112013-01-18T18:31:00.001+08:002013-01-22T22:02:34.311+08:00Happy 2013!
We are still kind of settling into the swing of things. A whole new chapter of our lives has started, our usual routine is changed, as Kieran enters into his formal education years.
This is the 3rd week of January, and there are really many things that I want to record. However, I think I should also sum up 2012 for us.
{House-less}
We've been "house-less" for 1 year 3 months. We Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-25735115008518944622012-11-18T19:05:00.002+08:002012-11-18T19:06:54.024+08:00Girlfriend!
Teachers tell me that he looks after her all the time in school.
Seeing them together is just oh-so-sweet!! He likes her a lot and so does she! :P
Thankful that he's also found a best girl friend in school. Think he just loves having somebody to take care of!

I can still clearly remember the first day I dropped Kieran off at the kindy. He cried whenever he didn't see me. I'm glad that he has grown into a much more confident and mature boy over these 4 years!
I am thankful that he's found good friends that walked this journey with him.
Our wish is for him to continue to grow strength to strength, physically, Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-37298771001558892072012-10-20T22:51:00.000+08:002012-10-23T22:52:51.029+08:00Orientation at Rosyth (Kieran)
Rosyth had their Primary One Orientation really early. That's was probably a good thing to get out of the way so that we can enjoy the rest of the holidays and slowly purchase all the things we need for the new school year.
First thing we did when we got into the school was to go to the name list to have him find his name in his allocated class. He looked up and down (past his own name) and Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27858635.post-36408707017810698392012-10-09T21:53:00.002+08:002012-10-10T20:42:55.056+08:00Speaking MandarinI'm just glad that the boys are attempting to speak more mandarin at home these days. Small fry more so than the big one. They aren't fully conversational yet, but I'm really proud of the effort that they are making.
Some of the phrases they are using these days include:
妈妈是我的 女孩子(女朋友)
我要妈妈帮我穿裤子。
我爱妈妈。
我过马路要上(举)手。
They have some random substitution of words and I think that's really fine. We arrived at Phillip Island at about 530pm. It was just about right as the Penguin Parade begins at about 630pm. After a late dinner (at Stalactites) and a night's rest at Rydges, we drove off the next morning towards Phillips Island. On the way, we first went by Belgrave to the Puffing Billy.
We left Melbourne CBD a little late and thus would miss the 1030am train. So we detoured a little and stopped by Pie in the Sky for a light brunch. In our opinion, erm, the pies were Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
