Kieran
weight: 17.9kg
height: 118cm
Still lightweight I know, but I'm glad it is steadily increasing in the last couple of months.
Kiefer
weight: 16.7kg
height: 107cm
Probably heavier than Kieran was at the same age, but I think he is getting lankier. He's losing all his baby fat!

Update on growth
Kieran finally crossed the 17kg mark!! I remember that it took very long for him to go from 15kg to 16kg. I think almost 2 years! I think he was in the 16kg range for closing a year or a year and a half.
Here are the stats:
Kieran
Height: 117 cm (75th percentile)
Weight: 17.1 kg (5th percentile)
Kiefer
Height: 104 cm (closing 90th percentile)
Weight: 15.8 kg (about 50th percentile)
Update:
Kieran came down with a slight fever the next day (27 June 2012) and now he's back to 16.8kg again. So much for the excitement. :(

The stage of don't wants
Kiefer's been doing loads of "don't wants" these days. Sometimes I think that he is just trying to do the opposite of what people want him to do.
Today is one of those typical days:
1st don't want:
Brought him to school with me and he took off his sandals and ran around the staff room. Kept saying "don't want" and refused to put the sandals back on.
2nd don't want:
We were leaving school for lunch. Refused to get into the car because he wanted to "see how Uncle Blee drive off". So the string of don't wants.
3rd don't want:
We parked the car at home and walked to the eating place. And because we didn't park at the eating place, the "don't want" to walk to lunch started.
4th don't want:
At lunch. Only wanted the brown noodles (Pontian wanton mee we had last night). So the don't want to eat started.
5th don't want:
Didn't want to bathe before gege. Didn't want to finish his milk. Then started whining and saying that he wants to bathe later when I said I didn't want to bathe him anymore.
It is really quite frustrating with this phase of "don't wants". Even though the don't wants don't usually last very long (he usually gets distracted after awhile and then continues what needs to be done after the distraction), it really takes us a much longer time than needed to get things done. Just hope that he gets out of this soon. I always think that this boy probably got his terrible 2s late. He was such an angel at 2 years old. All these nonsense only started when he turned 3!! Pray hard for a fabulous 4!! :)

Update on the diaperless situation
Kiefer's been going diaperless in the day. In fact, he can nap without his diaper and not wet the bed. That's a 2-3hr dry stretch. We still keep him in diapers at night as he still wakes up in the morning with a fairly wet diaper. I wonder if it is just because he has diapers, he'll just pee at night. Anyway, the biggest issue now is that he doesn't tell when he wants to poop. He's pooped in his briefs on 2 occasions already! Just 2 days ago, he stood by the living room window, not moving and darn quiet. I thought he peed on the floor. He kept quiet even though I asked him if he peed (I was across the living room, at the dining table doing some work with Kieran). When I walked over, I realised he was shocked (and probably darn scared that he's gonna get a shelling), there was the biggest pile of poop on the floor! He just went and because he was only wearing shorts and no briefs, the poop simply fell onto the floor. He even stepped on a little of the poop! Luckily, the daddy was still at home and thus cleaned up the mess on the floor while I hauled the little fella into the bathroom to do a major scrub down! He hasn't pooped since that day and today I knew he was going to go and thus brought him to the toilet. But he didn't (or maybe couldn't) go. He asked for diapers but I didn't put it on for him. So gonna start watching for signs of pooping again.

Record of growth
I have this height chart that hangs behind the door of the boys' room and I've been marking their height off the chart. Was looking at it awhile ago, I decided that I'd better record their heights down somewhere lest the chart goes missing in the coming months.

Boatses, trainses
This is how Kiefer talks now. Some times he throws in an extra 'S' when he wants to refer to the plural form for the word. So he'll go boat-ses, or train-ses. However, he doesn't do this for all his words though. Only for some words.
Oh yes, and "stuck-ke" with an extra K sound at the back! :P

Kiefer's favourite activity
He is happiest with a pair of scissors in his hands. He can be standing/sitting there snipping and cutting paper into little bits and pieces for the longest time. He cuts them into little shapes and he especially loves triangles. Funny little boy. :D

Moved. Into. Own. Room
We've finally moved the boys into their own room. We cleared up the boys' room and moved them in just before Christmas. The first night was pretty easy because Kiefer thought that we were just having some fun. Come second night, he got wiser and started crying when bedtime drew near. We actually had to lock our room door and heartlessly leave him crying outside our door for quite awhile. Kieran fell asleep after a while and at about 11pm, we came out of our room to see the small fry (poor thing) playing in the dark in the room.
The next couple of nights were bad. He would start crying and refuse to take a bath and change into his pjs. We realised that we had to sit with him till he falls asleep. Thank goodness he is a fast sleeper. It usually only takes him about 15mins to fall asleep.
As for Kieran, he was really good in this whole moving into their own room business. He tried to be funny by bringing Kiefer along when he kept running out of the room pretending to be afraid. However, he has been sleeping through in the bed room and not running to our room at all! :D He even asks to nap there in the afternoons. We don't even need to sit with him for him to fall asleep. Usually he will still be awake after Kiefer falls asleep and he is perfectly fine with us leaving the room while he falls asleep by himself. He really surprised us as we expected him to be the difficult one because he is usually a very routine person, doing the same things in the same places and similar times.
It's been about 3 weeks already and things are looking good. Looking forward to Kiefer falling all asleep by himself so that we don't have to spend time sitting there in the dark with him.

Kiefer is ONE!!
Yes, our little baby is growing up! He is now cruising all over the place and also starting to have some speech development. Here's some updates:
Speech/ language:
- a-oh.. (*hello*) with hands/remote/ phones to his ears
- eh.eh..eh..eh.. means he wants something or go somewhere
- get!/ duck! Don't know what this means, but the duck usually comes after a sneeze
- recognises some pictures like "duck, dog"
Dexterity:
- cruising very well, can free stand for 1s sometimes
- crawls really fast
- still puts everything into his mouth
Feeds:
- Direct BM 3x a day (6am, 6pm, 9pm)
- 1 120ml EBM (9am) + 1 120ml FM (230pm) Enfagrow
- breakfast - 1 scoop of cereal
- lunch & dinner - usually porridge with vegetables and fish/ tofu (1/2 - 3/4 rice bowl full)
- biscuits in between meals
Naps (Weekdays):
- Leaves the house at 630am, usually continues to sleep after reaching IL's place till about 830am
- Nap at about 10 till 11ish
- Nap after lunch till about 3pm (or whenever we fetch him)
- *if we are early, nap at about 3ish till dinner time at home
- Sometimes an evening nap before dinner (about 1/2 -1hr)
Naps (Weekends):
- Wakes at about 9am
- Naps at 11 till lunch (or no nap till after lunch)
- Afternoon nap from about 3-5ish
- Bedtime at about 930-10pm

Kieran & school
m: do you like school?
K: yes
m: do you want to go school tomorrow?
k: No!
It's always the same answer. He will say that he likes school, he is happy in school but when you ask if he want to go to school, it'll always be a resounding "no!". :P
Spoke to his teachers yesterday and all of them said very positive things about Kieran. They said that he's big Kor Kor in school now and he is really active in school. They also said that he is very different from the boy who first went to school last term. He is no longer as reserved and seem to have grown up quite a bit over the holidays. I'd like to think that it is because of Kiefer's arrival that Kieran has grown up. There is someone to share the attention that used to be all his and it has been a good change actually. Instead of becoming a jealous little boy, he is actually more confident and more generous now. I believe that our 2 boys are really meant to be brothers to each other and I know that they have loads to teach each other (and us too..).
Kieran is learning to speak a lot more. He can converse in short phrases and is enthusiastic to learn pronunciations when we correct him. (He just came to me and said, "Mummy, Kieran ta-muck-egg *stomachache*") He uses phrases like "mummy sleep (with) fer fer, daddy sleep (with) kieran". We see him steadily progressing in his language, vocabulary and speech. As much as I'm happy that he is speaking well, I'm sure going to miss his mispronunciations and the look on his face when he searches for the words he needs to say and use.
I'm a little sad that Kieran has grown up, but I am extremely proud of the little boy that he has turned out to be. :D

I (action)
Haha, another speech/ vocabulary development of Kieran's. He is really starting to talk a lot more and we've begun to hear him construct phrases in the last few days. Now, instead of saying "No", he'll sometimes say "No tans" (No thanks) when offered something. It is also quite funny that he now says "I" followed by some action words to express himself. E.g. "I sit", " I drink". He also mimics a lot of our speech. When he completes a certain task, he'll now say " Good job!" to himself because that is what we always say to him when he does something right.
However, he is still having a little trouble with the word "share". He thinks that "share" means the other person has to give the item to him. So he'll go "share, share" and crying when he wants something that someone else is holding. :(
We are really looking forward to more phrases from him!

Weight gain

I blogged about this when Kieran was about 2 months old to check that he was gaining well. Looks like Kiefer is gaining VERY well. Average of 170g/wk comes up to 680g/mth. Kiefer should weigh 3530g by his first month. BUThe weighed 3850g at his first month check up!!! Hope he doesn't grow into a "fat" baby!! Even with the higher limit of weight gain (at 241g/wk), he still overshoots the weight gain by about 40g!! :P
